Therapeutic Provision

Nugent House School and Care is committed to achieving the best outcomes in improving young people’s emotional well-being.

At the start of placement, a psychological screening is provided, which aims to provide an understanding of the young person’s challenges and strengths. This may indicate that a further assessment is necessary, for example speech and language, cognitive or neurodevelopmental assessment, and this can then be accessed.

In line with best practice evidence, we strive to offer a holistic therapeutic environment where young people experience relationships and a physical environment that best meets their assessed needs.

Consultation with an established team of professionals supports the consistent and therapeutic approach to both education and care, and is embedded in the structure and delivery of service.

Should a young person require an additional individual therapeutic intervention, such as play therapy, a talking or creative therapy, or a speech and language programme, this is then offered.

At admission, some young people may already be accessing additional therapeutic support which they wish to continue. Recognising the need for continuity, we are happy to liaise with CAMHS teams to provided connected support.

Ensuring the Quality of our Services

Our Quality Assurance Department ensures that high standards of care and service provision is achieved and maintained.  It provides robust management oversight of organisational activity to ensure there is compliance with agreed service standards, values are evident and that service users are safe and receive positive outcomes, using Ofsted Standards and NICE Guidelines as a basis for their work.  They also undertake follow up work, including visits, themed audits as required to ensure completion and evidence of action plans against regulations and standards.

The Voice of the Service user
